The Art Nuko Show in Iran: Ambassador Nukeau is in trouble and needs your help.

Hi Art Nukers and Nukettes,

Re:
The Art Nuko Show in Iran

Ambassador Nukeau is in trouble and needs your help.

He went to Iran to arrange for an exhibition of the Art Nuko Show, even though the painting “Bunker Busting in Tehran” won’t be finished for a week or more.

But at the rate things are deteriorating that might not be fast enough. Therefore attached is a small jpg of the painting in progress.

We will send out a high resolution file to the list as soon as the painting is finished so you can make prints.  A poster is also in the works.

Please pass this message on and help Art Nuko attain critical mass before it’s too late.

Demand that the billion dollars for the nuclear industry be taken out of the stimulus package. With an outcry from the public, this thing can be defeated.

History of the image titled “Cold War” by Carl Chaplin

Iteration 1
Wax pencil
18 inch diameter on 30×30 illustration board

“Cold War” (Iteration 1) was first painted in 1975 to help Paul Watson (then with Greenpeace) in the historic campaign against the seal hunt.

Money from the auction of the original was donated to the campaign. Posters and a limited edition were made from the painting and distributed worldwide. The design and lettering on the poster were by Barry Lavender (famous for his “Raiders of the Lost Arc” logo).

To our regret thirty-five years later the campaign has not reached its goal of stopping the hunt completely.  Still deeply concerned over the fate of these marine mammals Carl has painted a new updated version of this classic.  And Barry Lavender has also updated the lettering for the new poster.

Iteration 2
Airbrushed acrylic and pencil
13 inch diameter on 17×19 Epson’s Ultra Smooth Fine Art paper

This new painting will be on display in Vancouver, B.C. during March and April.  Write for locations.

Posters, cards and digital files are now available via email.
