Dear Radical Reader. In the current spirit of effort on the behalf of truthseekers to expose the monumental fraud perpetrated upon the American people and the world by those who were instrumental in creating the 9-11 attack upon the World Trade Centre in New York city I thought it might be worthwhile at this time to post online the original hardcopy edition of The Radical which came out on October 1, 2001. The September 2001 issue was already on the streets for 11 days prior to the attack so commentary had to be suspended until the following edition.

As the renowned anarchist thinker and scholar Noam Chomsky points out in the above quoted book Turning the Tide, “We live entangled in webs of endless deceit, often self-deceit, but with a little honest effort, it is possible to extricate ourselves from them. If we do, we will see a world that is rather different from the one presented to us by a remarkable effective ideological system, a world that is much uglier, often horrifying. We will also learn that our own actions, or passive acquiescence, contribute quite substantially to misery and oppression, and perhaps eventual global destruction.”

This one short statement sums up all that has gone on in the past regarding the United States government’s policy towards the indigenous peoples of North, Central and South America as well as the rest of the world and also explains, in part, the reasons why today the US and other national governments within the sphere of US economic/political influence are still behaving in the manner they do.

Historically, since 1492 the Europeans who migrated to the North American continent have been caught in a psycho-religious-imperialist mode of thinking that has carried on through the “settling” of the “New World” to the present time. Throughout this process of invasion and settlement the mindset of the European immigrants has developed along a similar line as what, in the field of psychoanalysis, would be associated with the condition known as schizophrenia in an individual. As we know the mental condition that goes by that designation is one which is still open to speculation in terms of definitive causes and this is due to the fact that the interplay of motive, mind and spirit are at play in ways which make clear diagnosis and analysis difficult to detect.

What is obvious though when observing the “American” condition is that there exists a pattern of behaviour in which the nation has continuously pursued a relentless path of exploitation – both of the indigenous peoples of the Americas and of the natural environment. Calling it “expansionism” or “manifest destiny” or “evolution” or any number of things the pattern of encroachment via the use of force has never ceased in its quest for more land, more resources, more “hegemony” if you will, and ultimately, more control over anyone who has stood in the way of America’s policies of continual, unqualified economic growth.
